It was summer - hot and humid - way back in 1979. I sat in my livingroom trying to decide what courses I was going to take in my first year of High School. Growing up in Abbotsford BC I was about to enter a large private school, Mennonite Educational Institute. As I looked over the list of electives, one of the choices was guitar. I had always wanted to play guitar, but never owned one. As I added the class to my list, I had no idea where it would take me and how much music would in fact influence me down the road.........
It's funny how, when we look at where we are in life, how insignificant our beginnings seem to be. Yet they create the foundation for our lives down the road. This is the begining of a dream come true for Richard and Laureen Hiebert. Their love and passion for music has led them to create Front Porch Records as a vehicle to promote local music on a national level, and in fact to the world.
Beginning with their own band, Porch_lite, their vision is to create a platform by which songwriters, musicians and singers can effectively present their talents others, and have a place to interact with each other. A place to encourage, develope and promote Canadian music talent.
Vision of Front Porch Records
- In our world today Christian music has too often become more of a music business than a ministry. While this is the goal of some artists, we believe that if an artist feels that ministry must take a front seat to the business side of music, than we will help them achieve this end.
Our service is both to the local church as well as to the artist as we strive to support Canadian Christian music.
- music is not just a product, but a service. If a record label has any reason to exist, it is to take more music to the fans. We want to be that vehicle to bring the fullest potential out of the artist with the least amount of interference.
- we are an independant label and desire to continue to give the artist and songwriter control over their own creative talent. Though a portion is retained to support the workings of the label, our goal is to support you.

Areas of Support
- We are launching a new artist/church booking service in February of 2007 to connect the local church with local talent as well as making them aware of mainstream bands coming through town. Check the Booking Service page for more information - Front Porch Music - is the publishing arm of Front Porch Records. We will have a growing song list available to preview for singers looking for original material. We are also accepting songs from writers for publishing.

we are currently supporting the group Porch_lite in marketing and tour support. We look forward to making ourselves available to do the same for others in the near future.
- we will be partnering with other groups to bring in concerts and workshop events to Southern Alberta.
